Location: The Office, Crawley, West Sussex
Role Purpose
To deliver competent health, safety and environmental advice across the Virgin Holidays property portfolio, and core business activities(not including customer hotels and activities). Achieving this by integrating Virgin Holidays within the current Virgin Atlantic HSE Management system, reducing the likelihood of accidents/incidents occurring to employees, and the company breaching HS&E legislation.
Responsibilities
·To oversee the safe implementation of key business projects
·Provide competent health, safety and environmental advice to key business areas
·Ensure that health, safety and environmental initiatives are developed, managed and delivered effectively to meet internal department standards
·Integration of company processes within Corporate standards for risk assessment
·Identify and communicate trends in KPI data
·Review UK/EU/International legislation and assess impact on the business
·Provide competent advice to business areas on HS&E legislation
·Work with key business areas to review their processes and develop Standards/Procedures where required to enable the implementation of new/revised legislation
·Identification and delivery of training requirements
·Develop training implementation plans to ensure subject delivered effectively to target specific business areas
·Produce and deliver training courses/material
·Monitor effectiveness of HS&E standards against legislative requirements and business activities
·Providing management reports to specify significant risk issues and recommendations for risk reduction
·Review EL/PL claims to ensure risks are suitably mitigated and procedures are robust
·Lead investigations into significant incidents
·Represent Virgin Holidays with relevant external authorities
·Develop meaningful relationships with business areas in order to influence implementation of safety standards
·Assist Facility Services in conducting compliance audits to identify significant HSE risk issues, eg Legionella, Fire, Statutory Inspections
·Setting objectives with business area managers to prioritise safety related targets
·Identification and evaluation of current liability exposures
·Attendance of necessary safety courses to ensure continuing professional development and competency
Requirements
·Minimum Tech IOSH status
·Experience of implementing HS&E management within diverse organisations
·Strong influencing & diplomatic skills
·Significant knowledge of relevant HS&E legislative framework
·Experience of presenting benefits of HS&E at senior management level
·Ability to create and deliver informative training courses
·Competent trainer
·PC and software skills
·Strong team player
·Flexible approach
